After 10 months of preparation, finally Yusen Cebu landed to what we dreamed of ………….to be recommended for ISO certification last December 22, 2004. Going through the hard times, not to mention the collision amongst us employees and the sleepless nights brought by the pressures… still we were able to come up into what we aspire.

This achievement was made possible through the help of our MNL Head Office who have been very supportive ever since the start of this project and much more with the cooperation and participation of Cebu employees.

Cebu’s ISO team was led by LRA as the Vice – QMR. Assisted by Christine M. Baracao as the Asst. Docs Controller, Asuncion T. Tumulak as the Asst. Quality Workplace Coordinator and IQA leader, Rose A. Acevedo as the Asst. Records Management Coordinator. Presently, Cebu has seventeen (17) qualified auditors, 2 of which are from YBI.

To the YAS Cebu Team…….. Congratulations and good luck for the next Surveillance Audit!

In line with the organization’s thrust of the continued development, implementation and sustenance of ISO9001:2000 quality management system, an Internal Quality Audit (IQA) Training Course with live audit was held last August 11, September 1 and  15, 2004 at the CSM Building, Pascor Drive ,Paranaque.  With full management support, we were able to solicit participants from the various areas and departments, namely: administration, finance, accounting, brokerage, executive office, domestic, export, customer service, import and Seafreight.  We engaged the consultancy services of Ms. Angelica Fraginal who has been  part of YAS’ quality journey in ISO 9001:2000 initiatives. The 3-day seminar was grueling and intense as we had a clause per clause discussion. Nevertheless, as shown on the photo, we immensely enjoyed the much needed ice breakers! All 17examinees passed and were awarded the certificate last September 29, 2004.  We hope to conduct similar activities in the future in order to instill to  more YAS employees a deeper understanding of the  Quality Management System and to prepare them for future involvement in the ISO Quality System Organization.
