2004 is one triumphant year for Yusen Air and Sea Service Phils., Inc. Motivated and inspired by the successes of the previous years, the team once again found themselves challenged to live up to their standards and aspirations.

With the uncertainties which continue to threaten the very essence of our existence - the global terrorism, the peace and order situation in our country, the instability of Philippine currency, the competition which persistently tried to dismantle our structure with lower rates and corporate pirating; the challenge posted by the more conducive business environment in China for our clients and the altered cargo forwarding seasonality, we indeed can look back to 2004 as one triumphant year. It is a triumph that once again proved the mettle of our formula as a company and as a logistic service provider.  cont.

 Yusen Philippines Summer Outing 2005

1

1

June 11, 2005, 6:30 AM, with all the excitement that was getting hard to contain, we boarded our buses that would bring us to the venue of the day’s significant event. We were going to plant trees at the La Mesa Dam Watershed!

Traditionally we would have our summer outing to beat the summer heat by plunging ourselves in various swimming pools or beaches at the outskirts of the city. The Yusen Management team this time, has thought of something different... something more meaningful…  something that could transcend time… something that the next generation would smile about and look up with thankful heart.  A TREE PLANTING ACTIVITY at La Mesa Dam in coordination with Bantay Kalikasan Project.   Yes, in our little own way, we can help revive a forest! cont.

Yusen Philippines (Warehouse 2) Passes the TAPA Audit

When people ask how Yusen Philippines obtained TAPA “A” Certification in just a few months, I always answer jokingly “S e c r e t....”.  But the truth is:  it’s no secret that YAS Phils.  President Atty. Arthur P. Tugade (APT) and EVP Takatomo Ito are always behind all these seemingly impossible projects.  Indeed, it seemed an impossible task given the short period of time and the zero-knowledge of the TAPA working committee when the TAPA 2005 team was re-organized.

The audit was conducted by Mr. Michael Yeo (Regional Manager – Asia North, Sun Microsystems) and was accompanied by Mr. Stanley Aloysius (Geo Manager – APAC & Australasia, Sun Microsystems and TAPA Asia Committee Member) last June 15, 2005. cont.

Seminar on Income Tax and VAT

As the clock ticked rapidly towards April 15, 2005, the filing of Income Tax, Yusen Air & Sea Service Phils., Inc. has found again another way to provide valued added service to our clients.

We  sponsored a seminar on Income Tax and Value Added Tax last April 12, 2005 at the Airport Casino Filipino Forum Hall. Despite their busy schedules, as it was a tax month, experts from Bureau of Internal Revenue Head Office, Ms. Teresita Felipe, Technical Assistant for Collection Service – National Office and Atty. Christina Barroga, Technical Assistant for The Deputy Commissioner for Operations – National Office, gladly accommodated our request to speak on these topics; it likewise served as a vehicle for them to disseminate tax programs of the government. cont.
